Swimming

HONORS / HIGHLIGHTS at AHS:
El Monte AAU Swim Team: 1965-1976.
1971-AAU National outdoors swim meet in Houston, TX.
Gold medal winner and at age 13 set world record in 1500-meter freestyle.
As a exhibition, El Monte swim team traveled and competed in the following countries:
East Berlin, first American athletes to go through the Berlin Wall since WWII,
West Berlin, Munich Germany, Minsk and Moscow Russia.
1971-Gold medal winner in the 800-meter freestyle in Cali, Columbia, South America.
(Broke the pool record as well.)
1972 Participated in the Olympic trials in Chicago, IL
1972-1976 Four Varsity letters in Swimming (2 in Men’s and 2 for Women’s)
Competed in men’s CIF. Member of two women’s Pacific League Champions.
